Company
We’ve been making duffels and totes, StowBags and CoolerBags since 2001. At first, we collected old sails, washed them, cut them, and sewed them by hand. We made some terrific bags, but we had three problems: (1) they were terribly labor-intensive (read: expensive), (2) good old sails were ever-harder to find, and (3) we were unable to really control quality. Fine old sails that have gotten soft and pleasing to handle have gotten that way because the fabric is broken down by UV light. Truth is, much of the fabric was on its last legs.
To ensure fabric quality, reduce labor, and allow us to add features to our bags, we began manufacturing our own sailcloth in 2004. It’s woven in the exact manner as Dacron®, but we leave out the resins and chemicals that make sailcloth stiff and unpleasant to handle. The resulting cloth is very tightly-woven, water- and stain-resistant, and possesses a great “hand-feel.” It’s also very hard-wearing and abrasion-resistant.
We have such confidence in all SailorBags products that they have a 100% satisfaction guarantee: If a SailorBag fails to live up to your expectations, you may return it for exchange or refund.
We’re constantly adding features to our bags, and looking for ways to improve our products. If you have suggestions you’d like to make about styles or features you’d like to see, we’d love to hear from you!
