What is the fabric used in SailorBags?
SailorBags are made from the same polyester that Dacron® sails are made from. However, we do not add the resins that are used in making sails, as these make the fabric stiff and far less pleasant to handle. All our fabric and components are new, not recycled.
What sort of zippers are used in SailorBags products?
SailorBags are meant to be used in marine environments of all types - and that includes salt water, of course. So we use plastic, marine grade zippers in every bag.
How waterproof are SailorBags?
SailorBags will give their contents plenty of protection from water. Not only is the fabric very water-resistant, but the lining has a waterproof coating on the inside of the bag. No bag that has sewn seams is completely waterproof since water can and will seep in through the seams. So avoid setting your SailorBag in a pool of water.
Doesn’t the white fabric get very dirty?
Just like a sail or favorite pair of jeans, your SailorBag will develop its own patina over time. We have bags that we’ve used for years without washing. To us, they just look well-loved. But if needed, SailorBags are washable (see next paragraph).
Can I wash my SailorBag?
Absolutely. All styles except insulated and padded bags can be washed in a washer on gentle cycle. Use any laundry detergent, but do not use chlorine bleach, as it will turn the fabric yellow. Dry on low heat or, preferably, hang upside down to dry. If your bag is very dirty, you can pre-soak it in 1/2 cup of automatic dishwasher detergent mixed with about a gallon of water, and add a little vinegar to the final rinse.
How do I clean my Insulated or Padded Bags?
Never put your Insulated or padded bags in the washing machine. Just wipe the outside with a damp cloth or sponge with a bit of soap. Do not immerse in water and do not use chlorine beach to clean. On the insulated bags, the lining pulls completely inside out so that you can easily wipe it clean, without soaking the rest of the bag.
What is your return policy?
All SailorBags come with a 100% Satisfaction Guarantee. If a SailorBag fails to live up to your expectations, you may return it for an exchange or refund.
Where can I purchase SailorBags?
SailorBags can be purchased on-line and through our valued retail partners including gift stores, small boutiques and marine shops across the country. Please use our Retail Store Locator to find the outlet nearest you.
How does shipping work?
We process all orders without customization within 1-2 days. If embroidery is needed, the order will be processed in 5-10 days.
Within the United States: We charge a low-cost $2.99 per order for UPS ground or Priority Mail shipping. All orders ship from our warehouse in Victor, NY—see the UPS Delivery Map to determine the shipping time to your location. We also offer UPS Second Day shipping at $14.99 per order and UPS Overnight Shipping at $24.99 per order.
International Shipping: We use the postal service to ship internationally - please contact us for a shipping quote.
Please note that we are not responsible for any customs charges, duties or taxes. Unfortunately, we also can not determine what those charges will be in advance of shipment. For that information, you need to contact your local customs office or inquire at the post office.
Can I get my bag customized?
It's easy to add embroidery when ordering your bag. Embroider your name or initials, your boat name and hailing port—any 2 lines of text—for only $12. We can also embroider a logo, a burgee or even nautical flags. Please see our Embroidery section for more information and examples.
What about gift certificates?
We offer gift certificates delivered via email or regular mail. You can include a personalized message and select any amount over $10.
What about gift cards?
SailorBags make great gifts and are often sent directly to the recipient. We are happy to include a gift card with your personal message and a gift receipt.
Do you do special orders for events like regattas, trade shows or employee recognition celebrations?
Absolutely—take a look at our Regatta Trophies page to see examples of some custom projects. Corporate sponsors often find our bags distinctive and affordable give-aways to promote their company.
